FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CUTLASS Treasure Hunt?
In the last Cutlass Times Square Treasure Hunt, registered players ran around the Times Square, New York City area solving a series of clues that lead the first lucky team to a treasure of four tickets to the Madonna concert that night. All questions are delivered to players via internet-ready cell phones or other wireless devices (or they can read them via a PC, or even get their clues in audio format over a standard or wireless phone line). Players input their answers to those clues from the field through their web-enabled wireless devices, or with the help of their allies at home on computer, or in a local internet cafe, to send their answers in over the web. After correctly answering the preliminary number of clues, the winning team finds the treasure chest hidden in its secret location.

Can you give me an example of what it's really like?
A player on a team logs on and reads a list of clues, which she might access via her cell phone screen, or maybe a teammate--playing from home--reads to her from the web page version seen on a home computer. Then, in this example, the player picks one clue KISSING from the list, "Who's kissing who on Broadway/42nd?" There are three hints available that are sometimes riddles or dead reckoning directions or trivia. After guessing that the clue site is the WB store, she and her teammates run to the storefront to see a statue of Bugs kissing a lady bunny. One of the team rushes inside to find out the name of the lady rabbit. Lola is the answer. The player inputs the word "Lola" on the answer page and receives a congratulatory success notice. On another web page her team's new score is posted for all other teams to see.

What if I can't find the answer to a question?
Each question comes with three hints which help teams zero in on the crucial piece of information. If you get stuck, you can move on to another question, usually you need only answer 6 of the 9 preliminary clues to gain access to the final question for the location of the grand prize.
